Selling Price Continues To Rise.

Market Update

With a total of 2,509 sales through the MLS® system during the first two weeks of December sales to date for the year are down 1% from the 2009 level.

Prices continue to climb with a year to date average up 3% for all housing types except townhouses which are up 5%. Average prices increases were higher in the 416 area than in the 905 area.

"While off the 2009 record, the level of December transactions remains strong from a historic perspective. The number of transactions in 2010 will be the third highest on record." Toronto Real Estate Board President Bill Johnston.

Uxbridge Ontario - Handel's Messiah

Uxbridge - Handel's Messiah

This unforgettable seasonal tradition will be presented by the Uxbridge Messiah Singers, a volunteer organization which exists solely to bring Handel's much loved oratorio to area music lovers.

Conducted by Thomas Baker, a chorus of 100 voices and 15 piece professional orchestra will once again present Handel's Messiah at Trinity United Church Monday December 20th and Tuesday December 21st.

Admission is free but tickets are required and with only 750 available for each performance it is strongly recommended that you obtain your tickets in advance.  Tickets and information will be available in Uxbridge at Blue Heron Books and Presents, Presents, Presents.

Although there is no set admission charge for the Messiah, donations to defray expenses are received at the door each evening.  Producers are suggesting a $20 donation per person.

The Nutcracker Returns To Uxbridge

The Nutcracker Returns To Uxbridge

The original Nutcracker Ballet was based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E.T.A. Hoffman.

Today each choreographer adds their own spin so it is different in detail from the original story, but generally the basic plot remains the same; The story of a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King with seven heads.

In 1891, choreographer Marius Petipa commissioned Tchaikovsky to write the music for the Nutcracker Ballet and in 1892, the first showing of the Nutcracker took place at the Mariinsky Theatre, home of the Kirov Ballet.

The Nutcracker arrived in Western Europe in the 1930's and made its way to America by 1940. The first American full length Nutcracker was choreographed by W. Christensen and performed by the San Francisco Ballet.

The Nutcracker has since become an annual Christmas Holiday tradition for many. This is a story that involves both adult and children performers and is great for the young and not so young viewers.

What Are Potential Buyers Looking At?

Just before The Toronto Real Estate Board puts out the monthly sold statistics for the GTA here is a look at the median and average list price of homes viewed on one of my listing web sites here in Uxbridge.

The median price tells us that 50% of the potential home buyers were looking above $484,900 and 50% were looking under $484,900. Meanwhile the average list price they looked at was $586,320 read more here
